Enhancing and Expanding Solutions with Itron Partners at DISTRIBUTECH

May 16, 2022

Itron helps utilities and cities modernize energy delivery, offer their customers and community members more insightful services, improve safety and allow all of us to be mindful of our energy and water use. Our solutions push the traditional technical boundaries, take advantage of distributed sensing and at-the-edge intelligence, and cost-effectively leverage communication assets for multiple use cases. Itron will demonstrate these solutions and share realized in-the-field success stories at the upcoming DISTRIBUTECH conference in Dallas, TX, May 23-25. But that’s not all!

Itron will also share how our solutions are stronger and more expansive with the help of our many technology partners and how we continue to innovate through our partner ecosystem. To start, Itron partners continue to support and extend the base infrastructure of smart grid technology. Smart communicating meters by Itron lead the market, supporting both Itron and partner networks, while several partner meters support the Itron network, enabling meter technology diversity. In addition, Itron will demonstrate mesh network integration with private LTE backhaul communication, the next step in utility metering communications autonomy and security.

Directly integrated in our Smart Cities Management Platform, Itron’s partner solutions enable a banquet of smart city use cases including asset management, air quality and environmental sensing, traffic monitoring and smart parking, water and wastewater sensing, gas emissions sensing, gunshot and noise monitoring, as well as community messaging using integrated digital signage. Take a stroll through Streetlight Alley to see the wide variety of solutions that the Itron platform supports.

Itron’s grid management solutions will be highlighted at the show. Come by the booth to see the Itron Experience sharing the future of the grid edge and our newly launched optimizer solution, including the Grid Edge Optimizer, the DER Optimizer for distributed energy management and the EV Charging Optimizer for fleets, public and residential charging management, as well as distribution automation. We will showcase our data eco-system solutions to bring high resolution data to enrich customer engagement. Itron integration partners extend Itron’s solutions by enabling seamless integration into enterprise IT and OT systems. Itron partner solutions, such as line sensors, smart thermostats and electric vehicle charging technologies, enhance or play a critical role in enabling those solutions.

Also at the show, you’ll learn about Itron’s first available third-party distributed intelligence applications and how they enable utilities to engage end use customers with more transparency, insight and manageability of their energy consumption by utilizing advanced analytics and machine learning. Visibility into how our homes, offices and facilities use energy is essential to the control and optimization that these applications enable. Ty Roberts, Vice President of Marketing, Networked Solutions, Itron; Paul Jones, Senior Director, Operational Smart Grids, Avangrid; and Bert Lutje Berenbroek, CEO, Net2Grid, will talk about how real-time edge computing is a game changer for grid modernization and consumer engagement on Monday, May 23rd at the Grid Edge Technologies Hub, booth #1509 at 10:30 AM.

Many of Itron’s leading utility and city solutions enable our customers to make the most of their business data and the intelligence they deliver utilizing the Azure cloud platform. Itron’s longtime strategic partner, Microsoft, along with Itron will host educational sessions focused on the digital transformation of utility and city solutions and how Itron and Microsoft are working together to bring new innovations to market. Don’t miss the Monday and Tuesday sessions at 1 pm and 4 pm respectively. Monday’s session at the Utility of the Future Knowledge Hub (booth #1041) will focus on digital partnerships that deliver analytics outcomes, featuring Jon Guidroz, Strategy Leader, Worldwide Energy Industry Microsoft; Brian Hurst, VP & Chief Analytics Officer, Exelon; and Nipesh Patel, Director of Sales, Itron. Tuesday’s session at Micsosoft’s booth #1023 will feature Don Reeves, Senior Vice President of Outcomes, Itron and Hannah Grene, Director, Americas Power and Utilities Microsoft, discussing how utilities can capitalize on the emerging and rapidly changing market by using analytics and data-sharing capabilities to optimize their operations and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Make sure to stop by Itron’s DISTRIBUTECH booth #2403, located directly inside the main entrance, to see how Itron’s solutions are addressing critical utility and city challenges and how, with Itron and our technology partner solutions, you can make the most of the data that drives your business.
