ESIG Fall Technical Workshop
ESIG’s Fall Technical Workshop brings together utilities, system operators, researchers, developers, and regulators for multiple days of technical exchange on integrating variable and distributed resources, and increasingly large new loads, onto the power system.
Held this year in the Washington, DC area, the program is taking shape around the issues defining the moment for the region and the industry: large load and data center growth, affordability and cost allocation, resource adequacy and capacity markets, energy storage, grid-forming inverter implementation, and interconnection.
Session 4B: DER and Flexible Load Dependability for Grid Service
10:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Location: Regency Ballroom A-B
The session will focus on the conditions required to translate DER and load flexibility into dependable service that utilities, operators, and regulators can rely on. The objective is to explore DER performance characteristics and key drivers of dependability necessary to operationalize across T&D use cases such as peak reduction, local grid relief, reliability support, and other time and location sensitive services. It will examine how stakeholders define and measure dependability, where modeled expectations diverge from actual performance, and what operational, telemetry, and program design practices are needed to build confidence in DER service delivery.
Session Chair: Darren Murtaugh, ICF
