Doug Richardson to Lead Newly Formed Group to Enhance Customer Engagement

To better meet the needs of our customers, Itron has announced the creation of a new Customer Success organization, which brings together Itron’s customer service, managed services and delivery functions. Doug Richardson has been promoted to lead the group as senior vice president, customer success, effective April 28, 2025. 

The new Customer Success organization aims to better engage with our customers to improve our level and cohesiveness of services, enable and accelerate the rate of technology adoption amongst our customers and proactively understand customer needs to advance their business objectives.

“Ensuring that our customers are wildly successful has always been central to our mission at Itron. With this newly formed Customer Success organization, we aim to enhance how we engage with customers to understand their needs and ensure service offerings align with their business objectives,” said Tom Deitrich, Itron president and CEO. “Doug’s unique background in business operations, sales operations and strategic partnerships makes him the ideal candidate to lead this new organization.”

Doug has more than 25 years of experience as a leader in technology and information management services. Since joining Itron in February 2016, Doug has served in several corporate business operations and product business unit positions. In addition, Doug led Itron’s Information Technology organization from 2020 to 2022. Doug was instrumental in the acquisition and integration of Silver Spring Networks in 2018 and Elpis Squared in 2024. Most recently, Doug has led strategic partnerships and driven improvements to the third-party ecosystem associated with Itron’s Grid Edge Intelligence portfolio.
