Meet Our People

Honey G.

Q: How would you describe your job to someone not familiar with IT? What types of things are you doing in an average week?

A: As a chartered accountant in the IT industry, my job is to bridge the gap between finance business users and the IT technical/development team. My role includes understanding the terminology and requirements from a business perspective and ensuring those pieces get done with the help of the IT technical team. During a typical week, I work in reporting tools as a project manager and work directly with project teams to understand their pain points and automate processes wherever possible.

Q: You’ve had a chance to work across two Itron locations, Bangalore, India and our headquarters in Liberty Lake, WA, what has that experience been like, and how has Itron supported you in the process?

A: From a work environment perspective, my experiences were similar, which is my favorite part of working for a multinational company like Itron. However, there’s a huge difference in culture, language, people’s personal preferences, weather etc. Bangalore has very mild weather year-round while Liberty Lake has all four seasons. There are definitely pros and cons to both.

I am extremely thankful to Itron (especially Krishna Jayaraman) who helped me in the transfer process from Bangalore to Liberty Lake. The process was so smooth that I didn’t even feel like I was transferring from one country to another.

Q: A lot of prospective employees want to know what the culture of Itron is like. How would you describe it?

A: Itron’s culture is supportive – colleagues and managers support you in all ways. It’s also employee friendly with great work-life balance. The culture fosters continuous learning with opportunities to change positions within the company. I also feel like I’m working with my friends, which makes me feel more comfortable and motivates me to work hard.

Q: What is it like to work in IT delivery, and what insight can you share with others considering an IT career here?

A: In IT delivery, we work on IT projects from scratch. This means understanding the pain points business users such as the R&D, finance, supply chain teams, etc. experience, and analyzing those pain points to see what can be automated.

Q: What gets you excited each day to show up to work at Itron?

A: Every day I go to work at Itron, I’m excited to learn something new, overcome challenges, think of new ideas, engage with my manager and colleagues and work hard.

Q: How does your job impact Itron’s purpose to build a more resourceful world?

A: My job enables Itron’s business users, which includes teams such as R&D, finance, supply chain, etc., who are directly involved in solving our customers challenges and building a more resourceful world.

Q: Employee growth and development are important to Itron, what opportunities have you had to evolve, grow and stretch as an employee?

A: The biggest opportunity I’ve received so far is to transfer from Bangalore to Liberty Lake since I wanted to work in United States. Whenever we are assigned to a new project or role, our managers check in frequently to know how it’s going. Managers are always thinking about their team’s growth and how they can support their development.
